'Sun Glitter VII'

These original, abstract expressionist paintings pair together to form a diptych and have rather intriguing mark making with a vibrant palette making it a perfect statement piece.
Drawing on inspiration from a recent trip to The Whitsundays and North Queensland, 'Sun Glitter VII' expresses my inner feelings of the sun reflecting off the ocean.
Sun glitter is a bright, sparkling light formed when sunlight reflects from water waves and ripples, usually caused by natural movement of the water. Light reflects from smooth surfaces by specular reflection. A rippled but locally smooth surface such as water will reflect the sun at different angles at each point on the surface of the small waves. As a result, a viewer in the right position will see many small images of the sun, formed by portions of the waves that are orientated correctly to reflect the sun's light, in a constantly changing pattern.
Calling on my photography background, I see these sun glitters in the form of 'Bokeh' or a pleasing or aesthetic quality of out-of-focus blur. Having carefully studied the water and sunlight reflections on every trip to the ocean, I build the painting with multiple layers, adding various colours, shiny shimmering elements, dashes, splashes and dancing dots.

Reflections on water satisfy my obsession for shifting shapes and magical hidden layers and depths. When making my art, I search for elements, structure and places that intuitively fit into 'my reality'. This is why I frequently create imagery that's full of rhythms, colors, lines and most importantly, motion.
This series of paintings creates a gentle feeling of freedom and enlightenment. Viewers often say that they love my paintings because of the richness and depth of the colors plus the texture of the materials I use. I love it when people feel a sense of fascination and satisfaction when my paintings adorn their walls for many years to come.
Every painting is varnished with professional quality artists varnish which gives a protective surface and exquisite sheen that strengthens the colour depth.
These paintings form a pair and are stretched on deep edged 3.5mm traditional kiln dried wooden stretcher bars that sit perfectly on your wall.
The edges are neatly finished, staple free and painted a rich black to complement these paintings.
A diptych comprises 2 separate paintings of the one subject and can be hung close together which highlights the painting which is in two parts but comprising one scene.
Each canvas is 35.5cm (W) x 45.5cm (H) for a total size of 71cm (W) x 45.5cm (H).
